VHP CommunityCare operates as a managed care organization (or MCO) under a contract with the Bureau of TennCare to provide health care and services to a portion of its TennCare population within the Davidson County boundaries.

Originally founded by Vanderbilt University Medical Center as part of a full service health insurance company, the VHP portion of Vanderbilt's Insurance Company was acquired by Windsor Health Group in 2000 and continues to operate as a TennCare only MCO. In 2001, VHP more than doubled its TennCare membership and has filed an application with the State of Tennessee to expand beyond Davidson County during the year 2002. As of May 2006, VHP had approximately 43,953 members. VHP has not had any malpractice suits filed against it for the previous year.

VHP's primary focus is providing quality healthcare for its membership while ensuring prompt reimbursement for our providers.
