AAP Guidelines For Synagis Injection
Identify your patients according to the following:

• CLD (Chronic Lung Disease) child <2 years old: Synagis at start of season. These are children with birth dates after October 1, 2001.

• Premature, no CLD
1)<28 weeks GA: Synagis if <12 months at start of season. These children with birth dates after October 1, 2002.
2)29-32 weels GA: Synagis if <6 months at start of season. These children with birth dates after April 1, 2003.
3)32-35 weeks GA: Synagis if < 6 months at start of season. These children with birth dates after April 1, 2003.


Selected factors that increase risk of RSV infection:

• Passive smoke exposure
• Sharing sleeping quarters with 2 or more
• School age siblings
• Day Care attendance
• Birth within 6 months before onset of RSV season
• Multiple births

The ICD-9 codes associated with these guidelines include: 765.1, 765.0, 770.7, 770.0-770.9
